New Small Group Leader Application

New to leading a small group?

We’ve made it simple to step in and start strong. Click the link below to begin your Small Group leadership journey!

As a Southstone Small Group Leader, you will be viewed by those in your group as a leader in the church. As a result, we ask that you make the following commitments:

  1. I am a member of Southstone Church (have attended Next Step Class and have signed the membership agreement).
  2. I will faithfully attend weekend services at Southstone Church.
  3. I will not abuse the influence I am given as a Group Leader to promote my personal interests, service or business. As a Group Leader, I understand that I am given special access to personal information in the Southstone Group database. I will not use this information for personal gain, for networking, for solicitation, or to promote any cause or product however sincere it may be.
  4. I will limit our freedom by not serving or consuming alcohol during Southstone Group meetings or events so as to avoid causing anyone to stumble (1 Corinthians 8:1-13; Romans 14:19-21).
  5. I will not use social media to post or share comments, pictures or links that do not represent Jesus Christ and Southstone Church well. I will not use social media to stir up controversy within the church or community, or to promote views that would cause disunity in our church.
  6. I will not engage with illegal drugs or unlawful practices, and I will refrain from sexual immorality (defined biblically as pornography, adultery, fornication, and homosexual acts) or any behavior that might grieve Christ or cause others to stumble.
  7. I will present a Christ-like example that ensures the safety of minors and adults I am trusted to serve.

No one is perfect, but these are common areas that can impair the influence of the Small Groups ministry and our ability to provide safe Christ-like service to the Southstone family. In the course of your time serving as a Small Group Leader, if you begin to struggle with any of the areas listed above, or if there is something else you feel convicted about, please talk to your Small Group Coach or a Southstone Church Small Groups Director.
